5 Autumn Winter 2020 trends I am obsessed with

We’re on the final stretch of autumn (and too soon it will be winter), my all-time favourite season – the time for layering, thick sweaters and boots.

With the ever-so-present cup of coffee next to me, and a calming lavender tea right behind that, I sat down to tell you everything about these five autumn winter 2020 trends I am obsessed with at the moment…

  1. The Houndstooth print

The two-tone print, originating from Scotland in the 1800s, is hands-down my favourite this season. Its name comes from the shape of a hound dog’s tooth and is also known as shepherd’s check. Find out more about the history of this print here.

I might have cheekily placed an order on ASOS to grab one of the last few items in stock in this fab print, the jumper from QED London. From sweaters and shoulder bags to berets and vests, the houndstooth print is taking over the fashion industry and I LOVE it. Pair it with leather-like pants and some combat boots and you’ve got a look. Or simply go for an accessory in this chic print and take your outfit to the next level.

Fun fact: Christian Dior was one of the first brands to introduce this print in his designs.

2. Knitted vests

On their own or over a classic white shirt, in all shapes and shades, vests are a go-to item this A/W20. I’m all about layering textures to keep me warm, and if you are like me, a cable knit vest is definitely a great addition to your wardrobe.

3. Stand-out sleeves

Stand-out sleeves have the power to change the entire look of your outfit. Go for a poplin shirt with mid length puff sleeves for a grand and chic look or choose a more subtle neutral shirt with sheer sleeves. I personally love cable knit sweaters with balloon sleeves, my wardrobe might say maybe a little too much. Monochromatic or colourful, if it has puffy sleeves, it can stay.

1. PLT nude rib high neck sheer polka dot puff sleeve long top 2. Comme Des Garçons noir Kei Ninomiya 3. Wandering puff-sleeve jumper 4. Zara poplin shirt with puff sleeves 5. River Island white puff sleeve poplin shirt
6. In The Style x Lorna Luxe top with exaggerated sleeve

4. Leather on leather

During autumn and winter, I always reach for my leather pants and create the outfit from there. They are comfortable, stylish and keep you warm. Pair them with a cosy knit sweater and throw a leather jacket on, or create a statement look with a matching faux leather shirt. Or go with a Matrix-inspired look through a bulky leather coat.

1. & Other Stories leather flared trousers in black 2. H&M Imitation leather shorts 3. Nasty Gal faux leather shirt 4. Zara faux leather shirt with belt 5. Monki Faux leather crop top 6. Topshop black faux leather tie shirt 7. Signature 8 faux leather paperbag waist trouser in black

5. Riding-inspired boots

What screams autumn and winter more than boots? This season I am super into rider boots, in black or tan, with buckles and round toe. Comfort is everything, so flat heels are perfect for autumnal walks in Central or a quick brunch in a local brasserie.

1. Kurt Geiger Petra by Carvela 2. Office Karter rider knee boot
3. Valentino Garavani Rockstud riding leather knee high boots 4. DUNE Tahira knee high riding boots
