The WISH LIST | The October issue 2021

Aaah, autumn, my all-time favourite time of the year is officially here and I couldn’t be more excited. I’ve left the window ajar to let the crisp air sneak in, and lit an apple-pie-scented candle to set the mood. You already know I’ve swapped my summer dresses, linen shirts and patterned shorts for chunky knits, timeless scarfs and leather boots.

As soon as I saw tiny leaves starting to slowly turn golden yellow and rich burgundy from my balcony, I immediately needed to sit down and put my wish list together for this season.

From October, I’m going back to the office after more than a year and a half of working from home, so I definitely need to refresh my wardrobe.

So, with a rose sheet mask on and a huge hot cup of coffee next to me, here is what I’m on the hunt for this autumn…

Trousers in all shapes, colours and patterns

Afternoon in London, end of September

First stop: Starbucks, to grab the first grande Pumpkin Spice Latte of the year with extra cream on top (call me basic, I dare you haha) and a vegan cookie with pumpkin seeds and cranberries to go.

Next up: Zara.

I am absolutely obsessed with trousers this autumn, more so than before for some reason. So, I grabbed these two pairs below from Zara. Of course, my faux leather trousers still remain my favourite, but I can’t wait to style these high-waisted ones, too. They are perfect to dress up an outfit, as well as to run errands around the city with a white turtleneck shirt tucked in, comfy boots and a sweatshirt draped over shoulders for when it gets chilly.

Poplin shirts

As I’m going back to the office, I can always rely on the timeless cotton shirt. You can never go wrong with such a chic and classic piece, right? Especially when you need to catch the bus but also grab your coffee last minute. This season, I’m into those classic cotton shirts with a twist – be it with an oversized fit or in a statement shade.

1. Stradivarius Oversized poplin shirt in Stone, £19.99. 2. Zara Poplin shirt in Masala, £19.99. 3. H&M Poplin shirt, £34.99. 4. Massimo Dutti Cotton poplin shirt in Fuchsia, £59.95.

Statement heels

With life starting to slowly go back to normalcy, work events are also back on, so I’ve been on the hunt for some comfy heels to spice up my outfits.

It’s been many years of killing my feet trying to find the right pair of shoes that won’t leave me with blisters and bloody wounds at the end of the night. The. pain. I can’t describe it.

I even made peace with my fate – always having to be in pain when wearing high heels, as my feet are so, so sensitive. But seems like Zara has finally heard my prayers.

Let me introduce you to my current favourites….

Zara Heeled shoes with rhinestones and straps in black and orange, £59.99 each.

Yes, I really got this style both in black and orange, and I’m currently waiting for Zara to launch them in any other shades, too (thank you!).

Neutral sweatshirts

I’m all about neutral crew-neck sweatshirts this autumn. This stylish item is perfect for working from home or, when paired with baggy jeans and chunky biker boots, for drinking a glass of wine with a friend at a local pub or running around the city to check off your to-do list.

VOGUE Embroidered sweatshirt in Pearl, £129.

Chic knits

With autumn comes along the unruly wind and freezing absolutely all. the. time. I am always that person with an extra scarf or leather gloves when I’m out and about, plus the fluffiest socks that my mum likes to call the death of passion, a very Romanian saying, so not very attractive to the eye I take – but they are pink, soft and always keep me warm when I’m at home, so they’re staying!

So, I think it goes without saying that cosy knitwear is always going to make an appearance in my wish list roundup. From knitted dresses and turtleneck jumpers to rib-knit cardigans and fine-knit leggings, I love them all. Take a look at these little gems I found this season, perfect for staying warm and cosy.

1. H&M Rib-knit dress in Light Beige, £19.99. 2. H&M Rib-knit trousers in Light Beige, £17.99. 3. H&M Cable-knit sweater vest in Light Beige, £19.99. 4. Mango Knitted miniskirt in Maroon, £35.99. 5. River Island Beige collar neck button midi dress, £36. 6. Zara Knit cardigan with pearl beads, £49.99.

What’s that one item at the top of your autumn wardrobe wish list? Let me know in the comments or message me on Instagram @irinaiacob to chat all things AW fashion, I can’t wait to find out.

I hope you enjoyed and are a bit more inspired now to sort your autumn wardrobe must-haves,
