Summer nail inspo: from Hailey Bieber’s glazed donut nails to bold and colourful designs

I don’t know about you but whenever my next nail appointment comes around, I’m tirelessly scrolling on Pinterest for inspiration (on my way there, of course). I rarely, if ever, go prepared with inspo pics or venture out of my ‘nail comfort zone’.

I might no longer be the most daring person when it comes to nails – I used to do my own and go crazy on galaxy designs and animal prints (hello, nostalgia!) when I was in high school. I wish I was joking.

Now, my nail tech knows how much I love the clean and simple aesthetic, from the old-school baby boomer to super sleek and neutral. But for some reason, this summer I am drawn to colour…

So, I’ve gathered ten pretty designs that caught my eye on Pinterest and Instagram to help you get ready for your next nail appointment. They scream summer, trust me.

Trend alert: Pearl love

There’s no denying IT-girl Hailey Bieber is a trendsetter and has a lot to do with current beauty obsessions, so I had to include the pearl nails which everyone is sporting at the moment. They are just so stunning and top of my list for my next nail appointment. She also shared the exact combo she goes for. And that’s OPI Gel colour in shade Pale To The Chief mixed with clear varnish so it’s sheer plus OPI Chrome Effects in Tin Man Can on top for that glazed donut-like finish – thanks, Hailey!

Pink & Orange

This is one of my favourite colour combos – they complement each other so well. I am so in love with this mix that I even bought a dress in these pretty shades. How good do these look?

Italian summer aesthetic

Are you getting ready for a holiday abroad? I need to teleport to Italy right about now, with a glass of icy rose in hand, relaxing under a striped umbrella, feet sunk in the sand and a jazz track in the background. Ah, I wish! These zesty nails should do until then…

Colourful chrome

Be it pink, yellow, blue or whichever is your favourite colour, bright chrome nails are set to get you in that summer mood.

Multicoloured swirls

You can keep this design monochrome or play with a palette of complementing shades for a trendy look. Up for a fun design?

Pantone Colour of the Year 2022: Very Peri

Now, I never thought I’d include Pantone’s COTY in this list, but when I spotted these nails on Pinterest, I had to. They’re just so vibrant! Simple yet striking, perfect especially if you’re into purple shades.

Velvet nails

I’m all about the sparkle. So, no matter if it’s summer or winter, if you’re looking for a touch of glam, this type of glittery varnish that has an almost velvet-like finish is ideal.

Colourful ombré

Ah, the baby boomer trend is not going anywhere this summer. And I’m not complaining at all as it’s one of my go-to nail designs. Guilty! But what is ‘baby boomer’? It’s the modern twist on the classic French manicure – so basically ombré nails. Keep it simple and stylish with neutral tones or why not go all out with a bold shade?

Festival ready

If you are heading to any music festivals or simply love anything that’s basically the opposite of pared-back, then mix and match styles, designs, colour palettes and finishes for a cool look.

Tie-dye inspired

Remember tie-dye T-shirts? Or, more accurately, tie-dye everything? Well, it has sneaked into nail trends, too. I personally much prefer the nail design, especially if it’s with soft pastels. Would you go for this style?

I really hope you got inspired and have now a bank of ideas for your next nail appointment or DIY-nail session. Which was your favourite?

See you soon here on blog,
