When autumn rolls around, the bold, dark and sultry lipsticks are ready to claim the hotspot on my dressing table.
From matte mauves to rich reds and nostalgic taupes, I always need an autumnal colour to finish off my makeup. Over the years, I’ve been on the hunt for the most beautiful lipstick shades, perfect for fall, and I think I’ve found some amazing products that are set to elevate your look this season.
So, here are my top autumn lipstick shades to complete your collection…
MAC Cosmetics Love Me Lipstick in shade Killing Me Softly
Creamy, lightweight and infused with argan oil, the MAC Cosmetics Love Me Lipstick in shade Killing Me Softly is my absolute go-to this season. This plum shade is great on its own, or with a lighter neutral tone dabbed in the centre of the lips for a plumping visual effect. I usually pair it with the WYCON Cosmetics lip pencil in shade 211 Vintage Rose, which I found in Rome (such a perfect combo). The best part is that is looks lush on so many skin tones. Priced £22.
Huda Beauty Power Bullet Matte Lipstick in shade Pool Party
Keeping with the pretty mauve tones, next up is the Power Bullet Lipstick in shade Pool Party from Huda Beauty. It is a long-lasting matte lipstick, however it doesn’t dry out the lips and feels weightless as well. This full-coverage cool-toned berry shade is perfect for autumn days. Priced £23.
Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in shade Dead Roses
If you can’t tell already, I really love plum shades during autumn. The Anastasia Beverly Hills Matte Lipstick in shade Dead Roses applies like a dream and lasts well on the lips. Medium-toned, it has a velvet-smooth finish and a super-pigmented colour, perfect for fall. Priced £20.
*This shade is slightly darker in reality than pictured below
MAC Cosmetics Amplified Lipstick in shade Half’ N Half
In my opinion, the MAC Cosmetics Amplified Lipstick in shade Half’ N Half is the perfect nude lipstick. Great for all year round but especially autumn, the formula is really hydrating and comfortable, plus it’s packed with colour. Super creamy with a semi-lustruous finish, it glides easily and lasts nicely on the lips. For extra dimension, I like pairing it with the Charlotte Tilbury Iconic Nude lip liner. Priced £20.
Rouge Dior Forever in shade 458
Matte, transfer-proof, rich in colour – what more could you want, right? The Rouge Dior Forever in shade 458 is a lovely pink hue, ideal if you love a bit of colour to brighten up cold, rainy days. It is super long-lasting and comfortable on the lips. It honestly feels like you aren’t wearing anything, which is a huge bonus. Plus, you don’t have to worry about reapplying. Priced £35.
Sephora Collection Cream Lip Stain in shade 01 Always Red
Hands down, the best red lip stain ever. I know, not a lipstick but I had to include it in this roundup. It has been my favourite red lip product for many years now (I get mine from Romania) and there’s just nothing that can beat it. It is SO long-lasting and offers full coverage. In just one swipe, you can have perfect red lips. You can’t get it in the UK just yet, however, Sephora is soon coming here too, so stay tuned. Try it if you get a chance and I promise you won’t be disappointed. Priced approximately £12.
