I don’t know about you, but something about Autumn makes me nostalgic.
It warms me from within when I see the leaves changing their colour. It’s something about it that makes change not look so scary and new beginnings seem more hopeful.
With this being said, my favourite season of the year is just here and if you don’t remember what was worn on the runway back at the beginning of the year, here are five trends for this A/W ’19 season.
1. Pantsuit-Up
This Autumn/Winter season, pantsuits have been a staple on the runway, from Marc Jacobs’ shining pantsuit and Tom Ford’s satin one to Alexander McQueen’s bedazzled blazer and Chanel’s classy white pantsuit.
However, pair it with the next trend on the list and you will have a statement look for A/W ’19 (see Chanel).

2. Cinched Waist
Chanel, Dior, Alexander McQueen, Marc Jacobs, Sacai, Saint Laurent.
What do they all have in common?
Cinched waists by belts to-die-for, which have been seen all over the runway.
It seems like the designers loved accessorising outfits with different-style belts (see below).
Coats, dresses, blazers – you name it, add a belt and you’re good to go.

3. Double-Check
The check print has been around in the last season’s runways and it was not absent during A/W ’19 shows.
A mix of plaid patterns was spotted on Chanel’s Alpine show, where the runway was graced with Chanel’s classic pieces – check tweed coats, suits and skirts.
Maria Grazia Chiuri, creative director for Christian Dior, mixed and matched plaid patters on skirts, coats and dresses.

4. Jewel Tones
This Fall and Winter we have a beautiful colour palette – jewel tones. Mix and match shades of ruby, sapphire, emerald, amethyst, topaz or citrine for a chic look.

5. Glitz and Glam
Sparkle, glitter and glamour – shine this season with a party-ready dress inspired by Halpern or spice up a look with an eye-catching item like Paco Rabanne.
