The WISH LIST | The October issue 2022

It’s that time of the year again when everything turns golden, and there’s that crisp aroma in the air of fresh starts, chestnuts, and all things pumpkin spice. Of course, the October issue is back, where I share everything that’s on my radar this autumn. So, grab a cup of tea or coffee and get comfortable.

For me, October is the month when I feel most inspired by everything surrounding me, and when I get overly excited about autumn fashion. There’s nothing that can beat this transitional time when we begin to swap colourful dresses and sheer garments for neutral, heavy textiles and play with layering.

September is always the month when I revisit AW22 runway trends, create moodboards on Pinterest and gather all the outfit inspo and ideas to put together a cosy wardrobe for the year.

In 2019, we’ve seen leather coats, chunky knits and embellished accessories make the October issue wish list. Then, in 2021, it was all about tailored trousers, poplin shirts and statement heels.

I’m not going to ramble for too long so, let’s jump straight into the wish list for 2022…

Burgundy bags

There’s something special about deep, nature-inspired purples whenever autumn rolls around. I think it’s such a timeless choice, especially for the colder months, right when trees start shedding leaves and it turns gloomy outside.

So, this autumn I’ve got my eyes on burgundy bags, be it minis or oversized bucket bags.

1. La Redoute Burgundy shoulder handbag, £34. 2. Lauren Ralph Lauren Andie 19 leather bucket bag in Garnet, £299. 3 Massimo Dutti Burgundy braided leather shoulder bag with flap, £159. 4. Guess Enisa croc print handbag, £120.

Faux shearling jackets

This year, I am absolutely obsessed with faux shearling jackets and coats. Be it dark brown, cream or black, I just need to have it. They look so cosy and chic, and are set to keep you warm on autumnal walks in the park.

These are some on my favourites I spotted when browsing online…

1. Mango Brown faux shearling lining coat, £99.99. 2. Boden Hazel faux shearling biker jacket, £180. 3. Hollister Faux shearling coat, £79. 4. Topshop faux leather oversized shearling lined biker jacket in brown, £90.

Cosy co-ords

Comfy fabrics are always going to be a staple in any autumn/ winter wardrobe. I love chunky sweaters and knits but I thought I would share something different this year. And this is where cosy co-ords come out to play.

From complete sets with tops, cardigans and skirts to sweaters and trousers, these textured and knitted materials are perfect for refreshing your look this season.

I usually stick to neutrals in the colder months, but I spotted the pink co-ord below from Zara and it just had to make the list.

1. Mango Perkins neck pucker sweater, £49.99. 2. Mango Gathered knit skirt, £49.99. 3. River Island Beige knitted zip-up cardigan, £45. 4. River Island Beige knitted stirrup leggings, £35. 5. Zara High neck knit sweater, £32.99. 6. Zara Knit mini skirt, £22.99.

Chunky boots & loafers

If you are looking for some statement footwear for autumn/ winter 2022, how about chunky biker boots and loafers? They are so versatile as you can pair them with anything from knit dresses to leather trousers and an oversized faux shearling jacket ;).

Not to mention they are ideal for cold, rainy days. Some designs that caught my eye have block heels or chain embellishments. Take a look…

1. Zara High-heel loafers with track sole and chain, £59.99. 2. H&M Beige calf-length boots, £34.99. 3. Stradivarius Loafers with chain detail, £39.99. 4. Guess Zipped leila low boots, £140.

Half-zip sweaters

You’ve probably seen cream and black striped sweaters take over social media recently. And, guilty over here, they have certainly caught my eye too. But apart from the striped designs, I saw some gorgeous half-zip sweaters in a similar style that look so nice.

They are so easy to throw on and pair with some trousers and statement boots. This type of sweater will certainly save you time when you need to look put together but don’t have time to curate an outfit, whether you’re going to the office or running errands.

1. & Other Stories half-zip sweater, £97. 2. New Look Cream knit zip collar long sleeve jumper, £29.99. 3. H&M Zip-top cable-knit jumper, £12.99.

So, this concludes the wish list for the 2022 October issue. I hope you’ve found some pieces to spice up your wardrobe, look effortlessly stylish and stay cosy this autumn.
